Meet the Cheetahflies

The Cheetahflies are our 3-5 year olds. Their classroom is often called "the Big Room", as it has big open floor space and beautiful front windows looking out into nature. It is a boisterous room full of hands-on learning, with room for up to 20 children. Meet the teachers of this class!

Lead Teaching Staff

Vanessa Parks

Staff member since 2018

My name is Vanessa Parks, and I am from Bloomfield, Indiana. I am the current afternoon lead in the Cheetah-flies room! I am currently attending Ivy Tech, to earn my associates in psychology, and plan on transferring to Indiana State in the fall. After eventually obtaining a Ph.D. I want to work as a clinical psychologist, working with all ages of individuals, and possibly one day opening up my own practice. I have around six years of experience in early childhood education, and I have been a lead teacher now for almost two years. Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family and friends, play the ukulele, paint, travel, and cook. I am looking forward to getting to know each one of you and your children. I am so excited to get to be a part of your child’s growth and development!

Anya Mogensen

Staff member since August 2020

Hi there! My name is Anya Mogensen and I’m a high school graduate born and raised on the tiny little island of Nantucket, Massachusetts. My plans of attending Bridgewater College this year to study Early Childhood Education were thrown for a loop when the Coronavirus hit and I realized I would be required to sit through my college experience virtually. It was then I made the decision to make this year count and move to Bloomington, Indiana with my high school sweetheart keeping in mind that wherever I went I would want to work with children. This is when I found Jill’s House! Since sophomore year of high school I have worked as an afterschool assistant for a woman who ran her own preschool in house. My hobbies include reading, gardening, backpacking, musical theatre and traveling. I am so looking forward to growing with and getting to know your children. Yay JHIP!
